If you are a doll house and miniatures enthusiast, would probably be interested in the Great American Dollhouse Museum located in Danville, Kentucky. The museum was opened in 2006, after a 6,000-square meter building was purchased from the historic house displayed in. The museum building was built in 1939 by the works Progress Administration. The ceilings are high and arches with enormous skylights. This makes it a perfect setting for a museum dollhouse.

The museum is home to a miniature town that has several neighborhoods, streets and forests in a landscape of great size. The town is detailed historic and represents the American lifestyle as it was in 1900. It contains hundreds of antique and craft residents miniature sculpted, which are historically dressed to represent accurately the time. These people seem real in miniature, and they interact like the regular villagers.

The Museum visitors can weave their way in and out of the many streets and avenues as they would in a real city. They are able to look in the back open households and businesses to inspect and enjoy the decorations, the people, and accessories. The town has everything you expect in a real village and has many articles such as gypsy caravans, an orphanage, a hunting lodge, and several mansions. The museum also has an entire frontier town, which is a replica of a full, detailed and dramatic of a Wild West settlement.

The Museum offers a sample much more than excellent as it houses a large classroom which is used for workshops miniature art, debates, historical films, visiting storytellers, and other educational activities. You can organize birthday parties and other occasions special. The classroom is also ideal as a meeting place and a dining room for groups of visitors to the school.

Another very popular section of the museum is playroom. This is a large area that is carpeted with a hands-on dollhouse village of its own. This village work contains a great variety and color of homes, shops, stables, barns, animals and dolls. Children visiting the game room are free to present secure and rearrange the settings and play with miniatures houses and provided please. The room also consists of comfortable chairs for adults who want to see their children play, along with bathrooms with changing diapers.

The Great American Dollhouse Museum is ideal for school and civic groups as well as lovers of dolls houses and miniatures of all ages. There is a small entrance fee and the business is open Tuesday through Saturday. It is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. There is also a gift shop on site that stocks a wide selection of new miniatures vintage antique and craft, along with other memories of the traditional museum including a variety of postcards and T-shirts. You can also buy books here to learn about the dollhouse and miniatures culture.
